The McIntosh-Patterson PhD Studentship
The Angus McIntosh Centre for Historical Linguistics awards one fully-funded three-year PhD studentship. The first studentship was awarded to a September 2015 entrant, the second to a January 2019 entrant and the third to an October 2021 entrant. In order to be considered, the applicant must have a primary research focus in some aspect of historical linguistics that is within the expertise of the staff of Linguistics and English Language at Edinburgh.
Applications are now closed for entry in Autumn 2024 and we hope to soon be able to announce the fourth Mac-Pat Scholar.
Funding
This studentship provides full tuition fees (UK, EU or Overseas) and an annual cost-of-living stipend (£15,500 per annum) for three years.
Eligibility
- The successful applicant will have a very good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and ideally will have, or will be studying for, a Masters Degree (or equivalent).
- Applicants must be entering the first year of the PhD programme in September of the year of application.
- International applicants are welcome to apply for this studentship.
