Spellynge Roolz: mapping sounds to letters from the Middle Ages to the Internet Age (and beyond)
This event explores the complex and dynamic relationship between spellings and sounds in medieval English and Scots, and its influence on spelling today. Participants with an interest in language history and change will explore electronic resources developed at Edinburgh (especially historical linguistic atlases, such as eLALME) in order to address questions of change in spellings and sounds.
