A Corpus of Narrative Etymologies from Proto-Old English to Early Middle English (CoNE) and accompanying Corpus of Changes (CC).
Developed by Roger Lass, Margaret Laing, Rhona Alcorn and Keith Williamson, this unique corpus explicates the specific linguistic developments (orthographical, phonological and morphological) from Primitive Old English that underlie the individual variant spellings attested in LAEME. See further ‘About CoNE’ on the website’s Front Page. For a full explication, see Roger Lass’s Introduction, accessible under CoNE Documents.
The compilation of CoNE was funded by AHRC grant number AH/H032517/1 (for period 2010-2013).
